PlanGuru Version 9
Enhancements
Reporting
- Further customize your reports
with new user defined margins – In Version 9 we’ve added the ability to let you
define the left, right, top and bottom margins on the financial
statements. You can define margins
ranging from .25” to 1”. In the
process of making this change, we changed the way we determine the proper
font size for the reports and increased the number of font sizes we can
use on the reports. We believe
these changes will improve the overall appearance of the reports.
- Eliminate unnecessary report
pages with a new report printing option – In the past the balance sheet
and income statement automatically printed together. Users told us, in many cases, when they
printed the reports they were only interested in the income
statement. To give you that
flexibility we added a new checkbox on the Print Financial Statements
window that enables you to print only the income statement.
Projection methods
- Get more flexibility in
projecting amounts with the ability to compute amounts on prior, current
or future amounts of other categories. PlanGuru’s “Percent of another
category” and “Combination of other categories” projection methods use
balances of other categories in the computation. In pre 8.5 versions of PlanGuru you
could only use current period amounts of the other category in the
computation. In 8.5 we added the
ability to compute on a prior period balance. In 9.0 we’re adding the ability to
compute on the balance in a subsequent period. For example, say you want October’s
purchases to be based on November’s projected sales. With version 9 you’ll now have that
flexibility and it will enable you to create more sophisticated
projections and budgets.
- Compute amounts using a larger
number of other categories - In pre 9.0 versions of
PlanGuru, the “Percent of another category”, “Function of Non-financial
item” and “Combination of other categories” method used balances in other
categories to compute projected amounts and the number of categories you
could include was limited to 5. In
Version 9 we’ve increased the number of categories that can be used to
10. For you that means more
flexibility and fewer workarounds.
Importing and exporting data to and
from Excel
- A new import report makes it
easier to trace the flow of information into PlanGuru – When you’re importing information from Excel, QuickBooks or
Peachtree into PlanGuru sometimes it can be challenging figuring out how
the imported information flowed into PlanGuru. Our new import report will solve that
problem. The new import report
shows the account description in the import source (Excel, etc.), the
category description in PlanGuru where the account flowed to and balances
imported by account for up to 5 periods.
Plus, when accounts are being grouped together in PlanGuru we give
you a subtotal for the accounts as well as by account type (total assets,
etc.)
- You’ll save time importing data
from Excel because you can now save your import setups – One of the most time consuming steps in importing data from Excel
is defining which columns PlanGuru is importing information from and
defining what kind of information is in each column. In pre 9.0 versions of PlanGuru each
time you ran the import utility you had to set up the column
definitions. With version 9.0
you’ll be able to save time because you can save your import setups for
the next time you import from a spreadsheet with the same format. Plus, you’ll be able to save as many
import setups as you want and you’ll be able to use the same one for different
companies.
- The expanded export to Excel
utility means you can export more data to Excel – If you like being able to
export data to Excel so you can modify the information, you’ll like our
new expanded Export to Excel utility.
In version 9.0 we’ve added the ability to export financial ratios
and the budget vs actual information.
And the best part is, it’s easy to use!
Operating systems
- Now you’ll be able to load and
run PlanGuru from your network server. – For our PlanGuru Network
edition customers, we required that PlanGuru be installed on each
workstation rather than on the server. With Version 9 Network edition of
PlanGuru, you’ll be able to load it on the server and run it from any
computer connected to the network without limitations on the number of
simultaneous users.
- PlanGuru will now be supported
on the Microsoft Vista operating system – With Vista,
Microsoft has added a new security component, ‘User Account Control’
(UAC). While providing additional security to the Windows operating
system, UAC has also created some difficulties with pre-Vista application
software. PlanGuru Version 9 is designed to work with Vista
(as well as Windows 2000 and XP).
